In the current financial downturn it is hard for savers to receive good interest, but for a small enterprise that would have made use of interest to help keeping them in business, a base interest rate of 0.5% that has been in existence for quite a time can make life difficult. When they have carried out jobs for large enterprise, which has used their expertise for many projects and always paid them on time, for the small enterprise to now learn that their latest invoice hasn’t been paid at all and is now overdue it makes times more difficult. If they call up the large enterprise to be informed why their invoice hasn’t been paid as usual it is hoped that they will get a satisfactory response, but if not, it might be that the large enterprise is also seeing problems with the base rate as well. However the small enterprise will need to have the invoice paid since they will have bought the equipment they would want for the last project and also paid either their own workers or self employed labour that they might have taken on. This might well leave a gap in their bank account, which has to be filled of course, so they might well have to start looking at Debt Collection. Their first move might be to look at the accepted Debt Collection methodology, i.e. solicitors or Debt Collection Agencies, but the small enterprise might be put off by the fees of around 10% to 20% or more of the invoice total. This might not be wanted up front, but there will be some Debt Collection Agencies or solicitors that would look for at least a percentage of this before they would start the work, such as writing Debt Collection letters, or even calling the large enterprise. This might well be the way that new Debt Collection Agencies would work, since the current financial downturn seems to have increased the number of Debt Collection Agencies and possibly some are not as trustful as others. The problem might not be that they would take the money and run, but that they might use unethical or maybe forceful methods that could ruin any professional relationship the small enterprise might have built with the large enterprise.

Their best strategy might well be to take on the Debt Collection project themselves and evaluate Debt Collection Software to achieve this. In this way they would avoid the fees of solicitors or Debt Collection Agencies and also they would be in full control of any communications with the large enterprise.
